When the Autumn Comes Down — DmitriiK

Текст песни

You left your scarf on the back of my chair
A little gold thread still caught in the seam
The maples let go of their color out there
While I keep replaying the words in between

I take the long way past Mercer Street
Where we split one coffee and missed the last train
Your laugh in the cold made the whole block sweet
Now every red leaf knows your name

If the season turns, if the daylight goes
There’s one thing I still know

When the autumn comes down, I’ll be here for you
With the rain on the glass and the leaves turning blue
If the nights grow long, if the wind cuts through
I’ll keep a place in my heart for you
When the autumn comes down, when the branches are bare
I can feel you beside me though you’re not there
Every road that we take, every change we go through
I’ll keep falling, falling for you

I got your old postcard tucked in my coat
Your crooked little sun in the corner still shines
You wrote, “Don’t forget what we promised the road”
So I carry those words like a pocket of time

The corner shop’s got pumpkins stacked by the door
The owner still asks if you’re coming around
I smile, say maybe, then step out once more
With your favorite song following me through town

If the season turns, if the daylight goes
There’s one thing I still know

When the autumn comes down, I’ll be here for you
With the rain on the glass and the leaves turning blue
If the nights grow long, if the wind cuts through
I’ll keep a place in my heart for you
When the autumn comes down, when the branches are bare
I can feel you beside me though you’re not there
Every road that we take, every change we go through
I’ll keep falling, falling for you

Maybe spring will find us on the same old street
Maybe time will bring your hand back close to me
Till then, every leaf that lands at my feet
Says love can stay when the trees let go

When the autumn comes down, I’ll be here for you
With the rain on the glass and the leaves turning blue
If the nights grow long, if the wind cuts through
I’ll keep a place in my heart for you
When the autumn comes down, when the branches are bare
I can feel you beside me though you’re not there
Every road that we take, every change we go through
I’ll keep falling, falling for you

I’ll keep falling, falling for you
When the autumn comes down, I’ll be here for you
