Save a Place for Us — DmitriiK

Текст песни

You left your coat beside the door
The rain came tapping, nothing more
A paper cup went cold in my hand
I watched the leaves cross the pavement

Your old blue lighter on the sill
A little proof you’re with me still
I thought that time would make it clear
But every quiet room says you were here

Love, it comes and goes like autumn
Turns the gold leaves into rust
I still keep your name between my teeth
And the last cigarettes we couldn’t trust
Love, I know I can’t hold on to you
Still I save a place for us

The corner shop has changed its sign
The man at the counter asks if I’m fine
I take the long way past your street
Where the plane trees scatter at my feet

Your old blue lighter on the sill
A little proof you’re with me still
I thought that time would make it clear
But every quiet room says you were here

Love, it comes and goes like autumn
Turns the gold leaves into rust
I still keep your name between my teeth
And the last cigarettes we couldn’t trust
Love, I know I can’t hold on to you
Still I save a place for us

When the cold gets under my sleeves
I let the last leaf leave
No grand goodbye, no perfect line
Just your empty chair beside mine

Love, it comes and goes like autumn
Turns the gold leaves into rust
I still keep your name between my teeth
And the last cigarettes we couldn’t trust
Love, I know I can’t hold on to you
Still I save a place for us

The rain lets up, the morning starts
Your lighter stays here in the dark
